WOD for Water

Forrest and Mendy Walden have been a part of the Neverthirst family since day one. We have been on the ground together and seen the devistating impact of children dying from the dirty water they drink.

Forrest, a co-founder of Neverthirst, at one point even considered joining us full-time - and of course we wanted him to!  But God had other plans.

Anyone who gets to know the Walden's immediately notice their passion for God, people and fitness.  In fact, Forrest…

Our Model

The Neverthirst 100% model has been a part of our humble beginnings since January of 2009.

Our friends, family and Board have been gracious in their support of our administrative expenses while you (the public) have given and allowed us to serve over 100,000 with clean water through the local church.

In the past two and a half years we have grown in our understanding of the role God would have us play in serving the church through clean water in the developing world. Providing…

Don Brobst Book Signing

I remember reading the first chapter of Dr. Brobst's new book, Thirteen Months.

I was immediately drawn into this incredible story of the Brobst family and in particular, Don's love and life - Gwen.  This gripping book leads you through the last…

Bangladesh and BRAC

This week, our Neverthirst staff has had the privilege of visiting one of the worlds largest and most respected community development organizations, BRAC.

Based out of Bangladesh, they have over 120,000 employees working around the world in the areas of WASH, healthcare, micro-finance, and education.

We have been here to learn more about their comprehensive WASH (Water and…

The Good News

Like everything else it was just an idea.

Can we equip the local church to provide access to clean water in parts of the world that are mostly unaware of The Good News? Can they use clean water to serve and demonstrate what the kingdom looks like when it breaks into someone's life? To use clean water to show unconditional love while building gospel centered relationships?

We thought it was possible but now we're seeing the fruit of these efforts.

Our 'Reachable' projects…

South Sudan National Athem

This is great.

We are excited about the future of South Sudan. Just five days after our independence celebration, they will become the worlds newest nation.  What do you think of their national anthem?

Oh God
We praise and glorify you
For your grace on South Sudan,
Land of great abundance
Uphold us united in peace and harmony.

Oh motherland
We rise raising flag with the guiding star
And sing songs of freedom with joy,
For justice,…

Thirteen Months

It was at a friends house that we first met Dr. Don Brobst.

We knew Don and his family from our church but we had never gotten to know them until now. We were meeting with a team eager to serve in Sudan. Don wanted to use his skills as a physician to serve and care for people who had no physicians of their own.

And this is where our friendship with the Brobst family started...in Sudan.

But Don's story started long before Sudan. It started when he met, fell in love and married…

Urgent Request from Sudan

I have a morning routine that goes something like this:

Get up between 5:30 - 5:45 and head downstairs. Fix a glass of water and get the morning coffee brewing.

Then while I wait for that first cup, I glance through my email and Twitter feed. Unless I know the email is pressing I usually save it to read a little later.

Once I have the first cup in my hand I start my quiet time. That's it, nothing special. But God got my attention this morning.

I just so happened to…

Hiking

This is what a group looks like after a long day in the Sudan bush.

We got out of the truck expecting a short walk to the village we were visiting.  So short, in fact, that we didn't bother to bring any extra water.

Our dear friend Jeffreys was sincere when he said it was 'just a short walk' to the village.  What he probably should have said was, 'it's just a short walk for me but over 4 miles for you!'

Not that a four to five mile hike is a big…

Pray for Sudan

Civil War between north and south Sudan has been a reality for over 55 years.

Except for short periods of relative peace, Sudan has served as a constant reminder that we live in a broken world.

The simple and common perception is that the northern government wanted to impose Islamic Law throughout the land and were met with fierce resistance among the mostly Christian…

women of the world

People are blown away when we show them this image.

Not because of the lighting or the composition.  Actually, it's not a great shot. Or even a good shot.

I was in Central African Republic with some friends from charity:water and Living Water International when I saw this woman walking down the road.

I was amazed that she was balancing…

From Mt Rainier to The Himalayas

Isn't it incredible how God weaves people in and out of your life for various reasons?

I met Jamie Fike as a 1st Grader at our small school.  We became instant buddies and remained close throughout high school until graduation.  Jamie was just one of those great guys that everyone loved to be around....an all around solid friend.

Adopt a Village 2.0

We have always been amazed at the women in the villages where we work with the local church.

Caring for children, gathering water, cooking meals, earning a living...they are incredibly resourceful to say the least...but also incredibly marginalized.

So at the end of 2010 we began to dream about what it might look like to equip the local church in India to empower these women through different methods to not only survive in their community, but to thrive.

So we went…

Walk for Water Update

Wow - you have amazed us again!

We have to admit, five weeks out from this Walk for Water 5K we were a little worried if we were going to meet our goal of bringing at least 1,000 people clean and living water in Central African Republic.  We didn't worry long.

A small army of over 300 showed up this past Sunday and helped us double the goal of helping 1,000 people! That's right, thanks to your generosity and support, we raised enough to provide 2,000 people with clean and…

Walk for Water

I love the women in my life.

My wife is my soul-mate and best friend. She drives a school bus as I travel around the world. She is as much of Neverthirst as I am - it couldn't be done without her.

My mom has been a constant source of unconditional love and mercy.

My daughter is our entertainment. Not a day goes by that she doesn't make us laugh and wonder what goes through her mind!

My sister is our family social butterfly. When there is cause for celebration, she…

Year in Review - 2010

2010 Key Highlights

Our second year of ministry was a year of growing vision and operation. Even now, we are excited about what God has in store for us in 2011. However, before we leave 2010 behind, we believe there is much to celebrate as we remember and see what the support of our Board and sacrificial donors allowed us to accomplish in 2010. But make no mistake, all of these things were truly made possible by the grace of God. We are thankful to have such a good, generous and visionary…

Sudan Photos Bring Clean Water

We can't tell you how excited and humbled we are that friends and supporters showed up in the rain to see and purchase some of Jason Wallis' amazing images.  So far, enough has been raised to bring clean and living water to the two communities we documented in October - Doro and Tedo.  To see them all click HERE.

Jason is a great friend and we have been incredibly blessed to have him travel with us…

Jason Wallis Sudan Photo Exhibition

It has been a crazy couple of months.

For a while we were working tirelessly on our Water is Life benefit which was a huge success.  Thanks to all of our incredible volunteers and sponsors we had a great night with over 300 friends!

The next week we were on a plane to Sudan visiting new projects, following up on projects completed over a year ago and then visiting villages where the people are living without access to safe and clean water.  It was inspiring…

Come Laugh With Us October 14th

We're less than a month away...

...from our biggest party yet and we want you to join us.  We have a great night lined up that's going to include a 40 foot Water Walk (we want you to experience how millions gather water each day), a lot of great silent auction items, a new Sudan premier video and many other things that will make this the best party of the year.

One thing we're really excited about is our friend, Henry Cho, will be our MC for the night.  Henry is a professional…

2nd Annual Water is Life Benefit - Oct 14th

Last year we hosted our first Water is Life benefit in Birmingham, Alabama. We were young (still are) and had just begun clean water projects in our target countries. It was a time of excitement and we were honored to have friends like Mandi Mapes, Steven Sivley and Sara Evans perform for us along with incredible images by Jason Wallis, Esther Havens, Chase Khun and Daniel Phillips.  It was a great night.

This year we want to introduce you to the people we've been serving for the past…

Sudan - Joy Abundant

We just returned from Sudan this past Saturday night after over 40 hours of travel - Sudan to Entebbe to London to Atlanta to Birmingham. And this came on the heels of a 10 day India effort. So now the process of pouring over hours of video footage and thousands of images begins. All in the hopes of best communicating what we have seen, experienced and heard from our friends living in Sudan.

I hope over the next several weeks we’ll be able to tell many stories. Stories of hope, of…
