The Church at Brook Hills

Radical. That's how we describe leadership at The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham, Alabama. Not radical in a bad way, but radical in a biblical way. This church, under the leadership of 31 year old senior pastor David Platt, has cut $1.5 million from their 2010 budget to 'meet urgent spiritual and physical needs in Birmingham and India'.
In a country where 41% of the world's poor live, Brook Hills has decided to put their money where their theology is - and the result is a partnership with Neverthirst where approximately 40,000 people will receive clean water in 100 villages through the local church.
Executive Director, Spencer Sutton, traveled with Dr. Platt and other church leadership in India this past January where they began to discuss the possibilities of bringing some of India's 1.1 billion clean water through the local church.
When Neverthirst was born, one of our passions was to see the church in America take their resources and support and encourage local churches in impoverished nations. And so this partnership is exactly what we had in mind....actually, it's bigger than we had imagined.
It's exciting to see God's church, here in the states, which has been entrusted with so much, presented and responding with an opportunity to encourage local believers, provide clean water to the poor, and see water used as a tool to spread the Gospel.
We couldn't be more thrilled to partner with The Church at Brook Hills in India throughout 2010.
