People are blown away when we show them this image.
Not because of the lighting or the composition. Actually, it's not a great shot. Or even a good shot.
I was in Central African Republic with some friends from charity:water and Living Water International when I saw this woman walking down the road.
I was amazed that she was balancing the firewood on her head and carrying two jerry cans as well! But it wasn't until I got back to the states and started looking through my photos that I noticed two little feet around her waist.
What? Firewood, water AND a baby? I was amazed because it hit me that this is what life is like day after day for millions in the developing world.
The great news here is that our partner, ICDI, had provided this community with access to safe drinking water many months earlier...otherwise she may have been walking miles with that load.
