Clean and living water

Life flows Partners March Report

Its been a busy start to 2018, we kicked off the first 3 months with rolling out our training in ‘best practice in household water treatment’ in Myanmar, Cambodia and Nepal.

Household water treatment is becoming a much bigger focus around the world. In the US, we’ve solved the issue as our drinking water comes into our homes already treated. However in many countries where we work; families find their drinking water from un-safe sources like streams, ponds and rivers.

We’ve been growing our water treatment programs in Asia over the last 5 years. In 2014 we started our first bio-sand filter project in Cambodia providing safe water in the home to 500 families. In 2018, the program has grown and we hope to provide safe water in the home to over 15,000 people in Cambodia, Myanmar, Nepal and India. So, with a goal of helping our partners plan and implement best practice in water projects, we hit the road in January for training with our field partners in Myanmar, Cambodia and Nepal. Here’s some of the highlight pics;

In Myanmar we were joined by Than Khaing, a local expert in bio sand filters to help train our local team.

Travelling also often leads to unique opportunities like sampling new food; in Myanmar...

We loved hanging out with the heroes of our water projects; the local teams who make it happen in the villages. This is our Nepal crew… bunch of legends.

We also got to see the impact of the water projects that people like you make possible. In Nepal, we visited the home of Mr Binot. He shared with us; "My hand pump water is so very contaminated, I tried another filter, but it was not good enough, so I was sceptical about the bio sand filter...but when I got it...I am so impressed our water is Clear, tastes so good”. Thanks so much!

So, we are grateful for our hard working teams in Cambodia, India, Nepal and Myanmar; for their commitment to high quality water projects. We look forward to seeing and hearing more great stories of impact this year. Thanks again for being part of our team, you enable us and our 'team of legends’ around the world to impact lives.
