Have you ever wondered what you would do without easy access to clean water every day?
In April 2006, the 3 co-founders of Neverthirst heard a sermon called "The Ultimate Disconnect" from Dr. David Platt. The sermon was based on Psalm 67:1-2. "May God be gracious to us, bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us, so your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations." Verse 1 speaks into the blessing from God, but verse 2 explains why we have been blessed. The question at the end of the sermon was "Have you disconnected God’s blessing with God’s purpose?"
This led us to travel overseas for the first time on multiple mission trips that year, witnessing poverty unlike we had ever witnessed before. We returned from those trips feeling called to do something more.
The 3 of us spent all of 2007 in prayer seeking what God was calling us to do.
It was April of 2008 and we were in the middle of South Sudan walking down a narrow path.
It was extremely hot and in the middle of the dry season.
That path we were walking eventually ended up at a small shrinking pool of water.
"This is where the people get their water."
We were in shock...then shock turned to disbelief...and disbelief turned to compassion.
We left that community and headed to a small Samaritan’s Purse hospital where we visited with families who were struggling from water borne illnesses. We prayed over children who were desperately sick.
That year, we came home and decided to do something about what we witnessed.
By December we had raised $10,000 and our first well had been installed on December 8th, at the village we visited in April.
Neverthirst was born.
Since that December 12 years ago, we have partnered with churches, businesses, families, gyms, and individuals to bring access to clean and living water to over 750,000 people.
