Water for the Unreached

We bring clean and living water by working through local partners

This is where and why we work: We serve in parts of the world where the two biggest needs are access to clean water and the gospel. Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene are a bridge to share the hope of the gospel to unreached communities.

Our Approach

Alongside local partners, we design multi-year WASH programs to provide everyone in the chosen geographical region with access to clean and living water. Our partners identify and prioritize locations based on need, geography, local community and church participation, and sustainability.

Choosing the Right Locations:

We work closely with our local partners to select locations where the need for clean drinking water is the most urgent; where local churches can partner to reach the community with clean and living water; and where the community will participate and contribute toward the success of water projects — community ownership is critical to keep water flowing in the years to come.

Choosing the Right Solution:

Our partners provide access to clean water through a wide range of technologies to provide at least a basic level of drinking water service. Selecting the most appropriate technology is based on physical factors (like terrain and groundwater quality) and cultural factors related to the community’s acceptance of the water technology.

Our Approach

What We Do

Based on geographical location, terrain, and local preferences, we work with skilled local partners to choose the most appropriate water technology that will best serve a community.

Hand Pumps

Hand Pumps

Where the water table is accessible and provides sufficient yield, a hand pump is installed.

Mechanized Boreholes

Mechanized Boreholes

Where groundwater is beyond the depth suitable for a hand pump, boreholes are drilled to a greater depth and equipped with a submersible pump that transports water to a central tap stand with multiple collection taps.

Piped Water

Piped Water

Large scale projects where solar energy is utilized to power submersible pumps to send water to surrounding villages through miles of underground pipe systems.

WASH in Schools

WASH in Schools

Provides access to clean drinking water for students and includes, where necessary, a hand-washing station and additional toilets (or repairs to existing toilets), along with a comprehensive hygiene and sanitation training program for teachers and students.

Piped Water Systems (Spring Source)

Piped Water Systems (Spring Source)

An elevated natural spring source is protected and water is gravity-fed through underground pipelines to household or public connections for the entire community.

Piped Water Systems (Borehole Source)

Piped Water Systems (Borehole Source)

New boreholes are drilled, or existing boreholes are rehabilitated and equipped with a submersible pump powered by solar panels. A central reservoir tank is constructed along with the installation of underground pipelines to carry water to community or household tap stands.

Extension Tap Stands

Extension Tap Stands

Where there is increased demand, public or household connections are constructed to increase access to previously completed piped water systems.
